CATHOLIC EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE PHLIPPINES
2007 NATIONAL CONVENTION
September 12-14, 2007
Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), with a current total membership of 1,240 Catholic schools, colleges and universities nationwide, will hold its 66th National Convention on September 12-14, 2007 at the Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

At least 2,260 diocesan/congregational school superintendents, school presidents, vice-presidents, treasurers, deans, principals, religious education coordinators, human resource directors, faculty representatives, community outreach and NSTP coordinators, student affairs coordinators, and other school delegates including selected student leaders, have confirmed to attend the convention.

The theme for this year’s CEAP convention is “Beyond Borders, Within Worlds:  Catholic Schools and Corporate Social Responsibility”.  This builds on last year’s convention theme, “Facets of Learning, Faces of Love” upon which the question, “How Catholic is your school?” was posed for reflection and discussions in the plenary and concurrent sessions.

The Biblical Root of Corporate Social Responsibility is anchored on 1 Corinthian 12 which says, “Christ is like a single body (corpus, corporis) which has many parts. It is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts.

“The CEAP National Convention theme for 2007 wants to express that Corporate Social Responsibility is not something for “big corporations” alone. …  Corporate Social Responsibility is not about SIZE or MONEY.  It is about what the term implies: being part of the whole, being responsible for the other, WE rather than ME.   This is why our theme is Beyond Borders, Within Worlds.  While we stay within our worlds, we go beyond borders in our thinking, doing, loving.”

Father Roderick C. Salazar Jr., SVD,
CEAP President

The three-day convention includes plenary sessions to listen to noted educators, legislators and leaders in business; concurrent sessions to allow participants to discuss practices and challenges in corporate social responsibility; fellowship night; exhibits; election of Board members whose term have expired and Board Officers, and relevant audio-video presentation of selected schools, as well as daily Eucharistic celebration.

The CEAP member-schools annually come together to collectively reflect on their performance as schools and as institutional members of society and the Catholic Church vis-à-vis their common mission and vision, celebrate milestones in pursuit of quality Catholic education, and to enhance their corporate social responsibility - being the best schools that they can be in developing transformative Christian leaders and caring communities for a better world.
